Samsung launches its new Gear S with 2inch display, Tizen OS and 3G connectivity
Samsung has officially announced its new smartwatch the Gear S which runs Samsung’s own Tizen OS and comes with on-board 3G connectivity and is expected to hit global markets in October in two color options of Black and White.
Looking to its specs, the Samsung Gear S comes with a 2” curverd Super AMOLED display having resolution 480×360 pixels. The device is powered with a dual-core CPU clocked at 1GHz and has a 512MB of RAM. The device has a connectivity suite that offers quad-band 2G/3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0 and GPS with GLONASS. The smartwatch comes with a built-in 4GB of storage and also enable to make and receive calls via an optional neck accessory that comes with Bluetooth dubbed Samsung Gear Circle.
Other novel features of the smartwatch includes a built-in gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light and UV sensors, heart-rate monitor, compass and a barometer. The device is IP67 certified meaning it comes with dust and water resistance. The battery capacity of the Gear S is nearly 300mAh.
