According to the reports from Korea Herald, Samsung might be planning to yet another smartwatch in the coming weeks under the name of Samsung gear Solo. The surprising thing is that this smartwatch will be completely independent i.e. it will not require any smartphone to work and will have its own USIM module for Internet connection as well as to receive calls. The smartwatch will first make an appearance in hometown Korea and will be released by SK Telecom.
This information comes from the Korean Intellectual Property Office that is the state patents office which shows that Samsung has filed for a patent in the Gear Solo name. Insider sources from Samsung Electronics say that the smartwatch is not yet final and the decision could be volatile depending on the company.
This year Samsung has come with its three watches the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit both all of these still were dependent of the smartwatch compatibility as they did not have their own USIM. This new Gear Solo will now be able to access through the mobile networks.
Let’s see how Samsung plans ahead to work on its battery life as this new independent watch is expected to consume major juice.
