Garmin who is well-known for its sat-navigation and GPS systems for marine, aviation and outdoor sports application has now tried its hands in the world of wearable computing with a new fitness band. Garmin has named its new fitness band as Vivofit that features a curved display with a ‘move bar’ which moves across the curved display. Vivofit is light-weight and water resistant to 50m.
Being a fitness band, Vivofit will track your activity level and set a daily goal for you. With the progress and success in achieving goals, new goals will be set accordingly. The display shows your total step count of the day, time, distance covered and calories burnt.
The data collected by your Vivofit band can be wirelessly synced to Garmin’s online fitness community-Garmin Connect just with the help of a touch button. Garmin Connect is completely free to use wherein you can get challenges and add and log any activities you do. At the moment, the Garmin Connect app is available for iPhone and Android only.
The Vívofit will be available from March 2014 for £99 ($165) and is available in a variety of colors – black, purple, teal, blue and slate. It will be come with two different band sizes and the battery life is said to last you a year. You can also bundle the Vívofit with a heart rate monitor for £129.99 ($215).

Its other variant that includes a heart rate monitor comes at £129.99 or $215. Moreover the battery life is just superb with a one year performance claim from Garmin.
